Introductory guide
What is a wing?
A wing is the idea that the types immediately beside your core type can influence how it is expressed.
The core type comes first
A wing does not replace the core type. For example, the possible wings for type 5 are 4 and 6, but its core motivation and fear still begin with type 5.
Look only at the two adjacent types
The types immediately on either side of the core type on the Enneagram circle are its possible wings. Not every type that seems similar is called a wing.
Do not draw a firm conclusion from assessment scores
A high score for an adjacent type alone is not enough to automatically establish a wing. This service currently introduces wings as a concept for learning and does not determine them automatically.
What to observe
Notice which adjacent type's qualities you draw on more often in different situations, and how those qualities shape the expression of your core motivation.
