The nine Enneagram types at a glance
The nine types can be distinguished by the states they repeatedly try to preserve and their patterns of attention, rather than by behaviors they enjoy.
Types 1·2·3
Type 1 directs attention toward right standards and improvement, type 2 toward connection and being needed, and type 3 toward achievement and proving worth.
Types 4·5·6
Type 4 looks at unique meaning and identity, type 5 at understanding and protecting resources, and type 6 at risks and a trustworthy foundation.
Types 7·8·9
Type 7 may be sensitive to possibilities and freedom, type 8 to autonomy and the balance of power, and type 9 to peace and maintaining connection.
Read more deeply after the summary
A one-line summary is only a map for opening up candidates. On the detail pages, read about the fears, relationship and stress patterns, and observation questions for two or three types that seem close to you.
